Bike from Haines to Skagway along the historic trade and gold rush routes to the Klondike! Follow the historic trade and gold rush routes to the Klondike by bike! While Haines and Skagway are only fifteen miles apart by water, the roads connecting them travel three hundred and sixty miles through some of the most breathtaking scenery in Alaska and Canada. Ride past three National and Provincial parks that compromise the largest protected wilderness area in the world.
Start in the Alaskan town of Haines heading up the Haines Highway to the Chilkat Pass in British Columbia Canada. Take in spectacular vistas of Kluane Provincial Park, home to some of North America’s tallest peaks. Continue to Haines Junction, before turning onto the AlCan and pedaling toward the capital of the Yukon Territory, Whitehorse.
Continues south along the Yukon River turning onto the Klondike Highway on way over the Coast Mountains to historic Skagway, AK.
This tour is vehicle supported and combines comfortable wilderness camping with stays at local B&Bs and hotels. Dine on locally harvested Alaskan cuisine. The local guide informs about the history and ecology of the region. This tour provides a wonderful introduction to life in the north and experience in the vast wilderness of Alaska and northern Canada.

This package includes:
- A Surly Long Haul Trucker touring bikes, or a similar flat bar bike with appropriate fenders and racks for a long-distance tour.
- Choose between a bike rack & panniers or a BOB trailer.
- A tent, sleeping bag & pad, stove, repair kit, and information on the route.
- Bike and gear adjustments
- Instruction with towns and the route.
- Lodging and food. There are camping, lodging, restaurant and grocery store options in Haines.
Route Overview
- First leg: 160 miles to Haines Junction, Yukon. Intersect the AlCan Highway
- Travel 100 miles East to Whitehorse.
- Head East for 20 miles on the AlCan, then turn onto the Klondike Highway
- Ride 90 miles to its terminus in Skagway, Alaska.
Along the route you camp and cook your own meals using the gear we provide. You have the option to eat out and stay at lodging facilities on some days along the route. The seven days of biking traverses 360 miles of the most scenic country in the world. For the independent bicycle adventurer this is a great way to explore the region on your own.Cost: $499 solo, $899 for group of 2
